Bankruptcy is Not Debtor's Prison by William Mitchell Margolin, Esq.

William Margolin, Esq My good friend and colleague, Attorney William (Bill) Margolin, was kind enough to write this article on Bankruptcy.  He believes that in today's world, people must explore all of their options.

From the pen of William Margolin:

While in the early part of the 20th Century Bankruptcy was considered a stigma and a person who filed was considered a "bad person," today it is considered by the general public and business as a practical tool and legal safeguard.

Debtor's Prison?  Hardly.

Bankruptcy as a tool can either eliminate or reorganize your debts when you are no longer to manage them yourself.  The stress and worry of bills and the creditor calls that inevitably follow are effectively finished once the Bankruptcy Attorney is retained for helping those in financial trouble.

While companies to reduce debts are out there in full force to take on your creditors, few actually succeed as promised and some do absolutely nothing. While you may not be a candidate for Bankruptcy, you should consider it not always as a last resort. Consult with a qualified Bankruptcy Attorney for help. Prices range from under $1,000.00 to $4,500.00 or more.  Do your due diligence and find out exactly what your fees cover.
It is your legal right to have the Bankruptcy Attorney explain to you, in detail, what your retainer will cover.  This should be explained before you sign the retainer and pay the retainer.  Does this fee cover everything or will you be asked to pay additional monies along the way?

Bankruptcy has the ability to set you free if the debt verses assets and income are upside down....It can set you back on your feet.

This article is not intended as legal advice and can not and must not be relied on for the readers personal financial and Bankruptcy issues.
